Leica introduces full frame compact camera for 4000 euro




Leica Leica Q has been officially announced. The compact camera with full frame sensor is still available this month in the Netherlands, for a suggested retail price of 4060 euros.

The Leica has a 24-megapixel sensor and can shoot video at 1920×1080 pixels with 60 or 30 frames per second. The sensor has an ISO range of ISO 100-50000 and the camera is equipped with Leica’s own Summilux 28mm f / 1.7 ASPH lens. Furthermore, an integrated electronic viewfinder with a resolution of 3.68 megapixels and present a digital “image frame selector ‘provides, in addition to the focal length of 28mm, the equivalent of shooting at 35mm and 50mm lenses.

The camera also makes use of a Leica Maestro II-processor for processing the images. This makes shooting continuous shooting up to 10 frames per second at full resolution. The display is made on a touch-sensitive 3 “LCD with 1,040,000 pixels. The connection with the outside world is via micro-USB, HDMI and WiFi n.

The body of the Leica Q is made ​​from magnesium alloy, with a cover made ​​of aluminum. The leather upholstery on the front side and the thumb on the rear mating must provide grip. The dimensions of the compact camera are 130x80x93mm and the weight is 640 grams, including the battery-1200mAh. Delivery will start in June for 4060 euros.
