with Google Assistant Lenovo releases a smart display that is supported by Google Assistant. It concerns two variants, one with an 8 “screen and the other with a 10” screen. For the time being, the manufacturer seems to be releasing the screens in the US only.

Lenovo’s announcement takes place simultaneously with Google’s. The search giant writes that manufacturers such as JBL and LG will soon also come with their own versions. The small version of the screen weighs one kilo and is equipped with a touch-sensitive ips screen with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels. The large version is 200g heavier and has a screen with a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels.

Both are running on a Qualcomm Home Hub Platform, in this case the 624 variant . It is equipped with eight Cortex A53 cores with a maximum clock speed of 1.8 GHz. The screens have a five-megapixel camera on the front and are equipped with speakers and microphones. Wifi-ac and bluetooth are also present.

Google announced at CES that it sees smart displays as a new product category. The devices can be operated via voice or touch and can run different apps. The screens also run on Android Things . Google mentioned different applications for the devices, for example in the kitchen, to request recipes, or for monitoring the baby room. The screens could also function as a smart-tom controller.

Lenovo is currently only talking about a release in the US. Whether and when the displays are released in European countries is therefore unclear. A price of $ 200 applies for the 8 “version, and Lenovo charges $ 250 for the 10” version.
