Letters] Bad bug in the latest version of OS X

OS X Mavericks

We wrote Stas Chegrinets

I recently became the proud owners of new MacBook Air 2013! And as the all-new makovody, I could not get enough of his new toy. I do not need to talk about my great delight and pleasure of working with an extremely elaborate and incredibly cool Mac OS X. Everything about her is perfect and incredibly convenient, but the most important and most enjoyable in technology Apple, as it is known, is in the details. So how much attention Apple pays these very small things, “apple” the company no one has yet managed to surpass.

I realize now that I say the obvious things for me, and so they were, until recently, namely the release of the next update to Mac OS X 10.8.5. We have already mentioned that this is a great update has brought a lot of nice, small and not very “buns” to owners of Mac-s around the world, but the most notable improvements and fixes the new version of the OS just touched owners Macbook Air 2013. Of course, I immediately upgraded and was incredibly happy about that.

But after a few days I had the need to make a video call on Skype and then I got a surprise. Skype stubbornly refused to display an image from the camera iSight. Ok, I thought, now I will call through Viber, but there it was, Viber also said that he did not find the camera. And this is where I started to try all applications that rely iSight. In the end it turned out that the iSight works only in the system applications such as FaceTime , Photo Booth, Quicktime, etc. All other applications and Internet services, such as video calls or video calls hangouts “VKontakte” point-blank in iSight camera can not see.

In my mind flashed the thought that I am ashamed to say vinduzyatnymi broke his hand his brand new Air, when suddenly I came across a forum in which are the same as me, the mountain-users tearfully complained about the same problems with the iSight. At the end of the branches I finally found the answer to my question. And he astonished me and, most worryingly, ruined my idealistic belief that Apple always does everything perfectly and flawlessly, perfecting every detail to shine. The problem lies with the iSight in the same update Mac OS X 10.8.5. Apple engineers have simply forgotten, or deliberately not added 32-bit drivers camera iSight, thus deprived of the opportunity to work with the camera, all 32-bit applications. Perhaps this is a minor bug fix annoying soon in the next update we can do is wait.

Because of all the stories my MacBook less like me did not, but that’s infallible and perfect image of Apple in my eyes a little shaken. And the moral of the story is in the world nothing is perfect, it is foolish to believe it …
