LG says it is technically ready to produce a foldable smartphone, reports Korea Times . “We looked at the release of a foldable smartphone when we were going to make a 5g phone, but we decided not to take it into production.” Competitors do come with smartphones with foldable screens. Among others, Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi will do that, with which a new category of smartphones is coming.

The South Korean manufacturer explains that the company focuses on two series of smartphones. The V-series, in which up to now the V10, V20, V30 and V40 ThinQ have appeared, will be the 5g-series. Where the previous V-phones appeared in the autumn, the V50 ThinQ 5G will be released this spring. The G-series will consist of 4g smartphones. LG is currently a relatively small player on the smartphone market. Among others, Samsung, Apple, Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo and some other manufacturers sell more smartphones than LG.
