LG has announced that its upcoming G3 smartphone features a Quad HD’ resolution of 2560×1440 pixels, which rumors have been confirmed this. This resolution on a 5.5 “screen provides a pixel density of 538ppi.

There have been months of rumors about using a 5.5 “screen with the resolution of 2560×1440 pixels for the G3 LG. The Korean company has now confirmed that the upcoming main unit receives this panel. The message is part of the announcement the AH-IPS display is certified by Nemko, a Norwegian test organization for electronics.

“The certification comes shortly before the new Quad HD LCD is revealed with the upcoming LG flagship in the first half of this year will be announced,” explains LG. Thereby referring the company on the G3 announcement of 27 May. The panel is 1.2 mm thick and has a screen edge of 1.15 mm, which according to LG, the thinnest edge of phone LCDs to date. The panel will “soon” go into mass production, which it seems unlikely that the G3 on or around May 27 will be immediately available.

There are more manufacturers that work on smartphones with resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. So there will be a version of the Oppo Find 7 with that resolution and there are indications that Samsung and Huawei are working on such devices.
