LG offers easy payment for apps and services on webOS Smart TVs
Smart TVs offer in most cases support for apps, LG is here with its webOS interface among the candidates, which make much more correct than others. Now LG has teamed up with the payment provider Paymentwall to give developers the opportunity to offer paid apps on the company’s webOS smart TVs. The cooperation covers more than 200 countries, the payment takes place via credit card. So you choose an app you want to buy, enter your credit card data and ready.
While the app purchases can be executed directly on the TV, there is also a way to do this via smartphone or tablet. Verification is then carried out via a QR code or other secure verification methods, LG shares. The customer is not only given easy access to paid TV apps by the new payment method – it does not involve complicated detours via third-party providers – but also offers a larger selection of available apps.
The payment of streaming services or other services is also possible in this way. The prerequisite is webOS 3.0, which provides the technical basis. WebOS 3.0 was introduced at the beginning of the year and is used on current LG TV models.
The most important question, however, is whether users want to purchase apps directly on the TV at all.
