LG will release smartphones with flexible displays to the end of the year

Taking advantage of the plight of Samsung, associated with the mass production of flexible OLED-displays, which we wrote about a little over a week ago, LG has decided to become the first company to release a device with a flexible screen. This told the Wall Street Journal Vice President LG Mobile, Mr. Yoon Boo-Hyun.

In particular, he shared that the company is going to launch the first devices using flexible displays before the end of 2013 and, more specifically, somewhere in the fourth quarter. No specific details about future innovations Mr. Boo-Hyun did not say, but, as many suggest, it will be devices based on the operating system Android.

In addition, as we have already reported, LG is going to build this year’s supply of OLED-TVs with curved screens.

Analysts predict that in spite of the fact that OLED-screens started to appear on mobile devices, LG itself facing some problems in the supply of most of these screens for its smartphones. And as the technology of flexible displays is not yet run-in (and the supply is not all clear), it is likely the fact that the first devices based on them would be very expensive.
