LG’s new OLED televisions – Better sound and more clarity for HDR
This year there will finally be a hefty amount uhd content available on the new ultra high definition Blu-ray format. Besides a higher resolution this format also provides the ability to display images with a wide dynamic range weather and all manufacturers show at CES therefore televisions that can display this HDR content. If you want to do it really well, you need a screen with high contrast.
LG OLED has the right technology at hand to fully HDR to let come into its own, but because the maximum brightness of OLED is not very high, you’d look better in a fully darkened room for an optimum HDR experience. The past year LG Display’s engineers have done their best to increase the brightness and OLED models this year now have a maximum brightness of up to 500cd / m². That is pick up less than half of what hdr-LCD televisions on the basis of at this time, but due to the way in which the human eye detects the brightness difference in practice is not large. Up to 500cd / m² is also plenty to enjoy as well with ambient light from HDR.
LG has noticed that demand for curved TVs has decreased and so have the new OLED models all have a flat screen. Still, LG is choosing a leave flat or curved screen to consumers later this year there will also come a new curved model that will listen to the name C6. From now introduced flat TVs, the E6 is the entry level model, which will be available in diagonals of 55 and 65 inches.
