Liberty Global shows Connect Box for Ziggo and Telenet

Liberty Global at the IBC exhibition in Amsterdam show a new Connect Box modem. Include Liberty daughters Telenet and Ziggo will use the new routers. Liberty promises apart from that docsis 3.1, to bring this year to end users.

Some services that Liberty Global at this year’s IBC introduced do not come to Ziggo, such as Horizon Lite for older hardware, writes Rock Media, who was present at the broadcasting exhibition. However, Liberty showed its new Connect Box, which the company at Ziggo, Telenet, Virgin and UPC will bring his daughters. The boxes need for ‘faster and reliable’ wifi worry but technical details are not yet known.

Separately Friday appeared the message from Broadcom that Liberty Global is one of the first companies that will use its DOCSIS 3.1 platform. That technique makes it possible to get gigabit speeds via the cable from households, whereby the cable companies to better compete with glass fiber. “DOCSIS 3.1 makes it possible for Liberty Global to later get this year enhanced services to consumers,” says the CTO of the cable giant. Ziggo or Telenet and the rollout to the DOCSIS 3.1 platform this year are going to get is not known.

DOCSIS 3.1 has significantly more efficient than the current DOCSIS 3.0 and would make it possible for future generations even downstream speeds of up to 10Gbit / s.
