A new version of Documents published ( we reported ). Since the free iOS application for me is one of the best of their kind in the App Store, I will describe the changes again in more detail. Who does not know Documents for iOS which was again brought on board. Background Documents is Readdle, among other subjects, such as Apps Calendars, Scanner Pro, Spark, Printer Pro and PDF Expert. Documents can be had for the iPhone and iPad and is including a file viewer. You can consider a variety of document types in the app. Text, images, videos or music. For me, the app won then by integrating cloud services.

Other apps often allow the integration of external services or synchronization before the outside, very important to me. So I can synchronize with Documents not only Dropbox folder on my iPad or iPhone, but also which of Google Drive, OneDrive, Box and Co. But not only that – I can synchronize folders from network shares. Convenient access from the network to the NAS or the computer of Documents? Jap, feasible.

Although Must Have App, I am not a permanent member of the app. Your strengths are for me from always in advance of travel, as I am still someone actually who transferred locally present media files on their iPhone or iPad, further I am always happy well prepared and have scans always like to present travel documents and Co offline if something happens.

So now the new features. Interestingly, I have perceived a “Close” after the update for the first time, which showed my iMac. This point computer with SSH / SFTP shares are shown in the net. These can then start after successful authentication. Works quite well, unfortunately, is not stored in these computers near the username and password. Power to me personally but also nothing, since I can normally set up through the app as account SMB, WebDAV and FTP servers also. Here then the credentials are saved.

Another new feature is the improved file system of the app. Good for power users, you can now copy freely drag and drop files from A to B. So you can quickly drag and drop files from within the app to other folders or Connected accounts (cloud / network). Conversely, it does not go unfortunately – Dropbox files can not be copied using drag and drop, these have to be downloaded.

Also new is the Readdle transfer option that needs to be enabled and is only useful if you edited files on iPad and want to then edit them on the iPhone on. Did you open a document, such as text, images or PDF files, then you can move quickly by clicking on the other device and also save a copy.

iPad Pro users also get support for the Edit with the new variant. As one there but has no real memo with handwriting support, for example, the addressed drag uses the Edit for operations, and drop the files. iPad users, the 9 and iPad have iOS with picture-in-picture support can use this function with the update also.

All in all really nice changes – at least when they are needed. Drag and drop the file system is nice to neglect the transfer for me
