Find a Question:
Lycamobile get fined 196,000 euros for excessive roaming charges
The Dutch mobile operator Lycamobile is fined 196,000 euros for the calculation of excessive roaming charges in 2011 and 2012. In addition, completed the provider calls abroad per minute to top it off and it must not.
Lycamobile has tried to compensate customers for the overpayment roaming charges. Because they are often anonymous prepaid cards, which is however difficult, reports supervisor ACM. In addition to the standard rates that were higher than allowed the then current European rules and rounding per minute, Lycamobile had poor control over the billing of roaming charges. Therefore customers often overpaid.
The provider is doing better now, says the regulator. The ACM can impose a fine of up to ten percent of the sales in question. Which is contributed to the research and issued a statement by the regulator estimated at 2.8 million euros for the period between April 1, 2011 and ending February 2012. Since Lycamobile which recognizes the responsibility, ACM reduced the fine of 280,000 to 196,000 euros.
Lycamobile can appeal, but considering the reduction of the fine by thirty percent and the cooperation provided by it to the investigation, is not that obvious.Viewing:-117
