MediaTek comes with Helio P10-soc for cheaper devices with 4G +

The Chinese designer MediaTek processor has its first soc presented in the Helio P-line. The Helio P10 is a soc with two clusters of four Cortex A53 cores and includes support for 4G +. Soc is for cheaper smartphones.

The Helio P10 must follow the MT6752 which was last year in many Chinese smartphones, says Anandtech. The first cluster of four processor cores running at 2GHz, while the second clocked at a lower frequency. The GPU is a T860MP2 Mali GPU at 700MHz.

Now the modem chip in the soc support LTE Cat 6, something known in the Netherlands as 4g + KPN and Vodafone. Thus he supports speeds of up to 300Mbit / s down and 50Mbit / s up, but in the Netherlands is still capped at a theoretical limit of 225Mbit / s, because the providers no longer have tires available for 4G to allow a higher download speed.

The Helio P10 has a dual-core ISP for processing images, making smartphones and tablets can have a camera with a maximum resolution of 21 megapixels, although it may also be in a setup with two cameras, which then can be up to sixteen and eight megapixels .

The mass production of the soc start late this year. It is the first SOC, which MediaTek has manufactured on TSMC’s 28HPC + process, a more economical version of the 28nm process that TSMC already used. The first devices with the Helio P10 appear likely early next year.

It is the first SOC cheaper Helio P-line, but the third soc Helio under the flag, after the previously presented X10 and X20.
