Megaupload programmer gets jail term of one year imposed




Andrus Nõmm, one of the seven defendants in the Megaupload case, has pleaded guilty to copyright infringement and should the prison in a year. The programmer was arrested Tuesday in the United States.

The US Department of Justice issued a document online put which talks about the conviction. This states that Nõmm debt has confessed to copyright infringement. He was involved in Megaupload as a programmer and knew that pirated content was hosted on the filesharing site. Even he admitted himself to have downloaded copyrighted material from the servers of Megaupload, authorities said ..

Nõmm after his confession sentenced to imprisonment for one year plus one day. He is one of seven suspects must stand trial in the Megaupload case. Among other founder Kim Dotcom and the Dutchman Bram van der Kolk are suspect. They have resisted their extradition to the United States. The case against Dotcom will therefore be held in New Zealand, but has several times postponed .
