Name three companies producing mice and the chances are that Logitech appear in your list. The company has therefore been a leader, especially when it comes to gaming mice. These mice are all designed in Lausanne, at the headquarters of the Swiss company. The entire basement of the building is filled with a lab where research into the technical side of mice. It is an area that Logitech has largely have to exploit themselves. Logitech engineers have had to invent all kinds of equipment and construction to carry out measurements on various mouse parts.

We could take a look in the basement to see firsthand what is involved in the design of a new mouse, and to see for yourself what devices Logitech built and what is measured therewith. For example, the engineers gave us an explanation of the equipment and the numerous measurements taken on the sensors of new mice and receiving wireless mice. We also got to see how an ergonomic, lightweight, yet robust casing is constructed.

The tour in Lausanne was the prelude to the introduction of the G900 Chaos Spectrum, the latest gaming mouse from Logitech, which will be available soon. The G900 is a wireless gaming mouse, and wireless and gaming did not go well together in the past. Logitech expects to have solved that problem. On the mouse we’ll have if we were able to test it extensively. In this video we only see the research that preceded the establishment of the G900.
