Micro Transactions disappear from Payday 2 and third is in the works




Publisher Starbreeze, the parent company of Payday developer Overkill, has purchased all rights to the franchise. As a result, the micro transactions will who were added to 2 Payday disappear. It is also announced that they’re working on Payday 3.

Starbreeze will pay $ 30 million, converted a small 27 million to publisher 505 Games. By removing the Payday rights at home Starbreeze now has full control over the games in the series. The Swedish publisher is also the owner of Overkill Software, the development studio that makes the Payday games.

Part of the deal is that 505 Games 33 percent of future sales get those Starbreeze earned from the sale of Payday 3, with a maximum of forty million dollars. Payday 3 has not been officially announced yet and nothing has been known about the new game.

In a video, the developers of Payday 2 announced it will disappear from the game microtransactions. The addition of these last year was accompanied by a lot of criticism because gamers felt that there was a pay2win residue situation. At the time, suggested the developer that it was not possible to continue supporting the game at no additional revenue from micro-transactions. Now parent company Starbreeze holds the rights, which seems to be more appropriate. Overkill Software adds that the studio Payday 2 18 months will continue to support long with updates.

From now on and with effect from May 1, Starbreeze gets all the revenue Payday 2 on Steam and the turnover from the Payday apps for mobile devices. 505 Games remain the publisher of Payday 2: Crimewave Edition and the revenue from which console version is shared between the two publishers
