Microsoft and Google: together for more transparency in the monitoring
Google and Microsoft are now not known as the best of friends. Time it goes to Google’s search engine , another time to a mobile YouTube app . Now both companies are fighting together against the government, it is prohibited to publish FISA requests in detail. Google and Microsoft are of the view that the Constitution everyone has the right to know this information.
Six times was postponed a decision of the Ministry of Justice on the matter backwards, yesterday there was the decision. The Government will publish every 12 months all National Security requests. While this is a step forward, it may be just the start for Microsoft and Google. The two companies require a more sophisticated splitting of the requests.
One would differentiate when only metadata is queried via an e-mail account and when were actually published content. It is certain that one could safely publish these numbers. It is also said that the discussion about the practices of the state and the provider never be completely silent when you can not reveal this information transparent.
