Microsoft wants to take over social networking site LinkedIn for $ 26.2 billion, converted currently about 23.3 billion euros. Both companies hope that the acquisition is still around this year. LinkedIn continues after the acquisition being independent of Microsoft.

LinkedIn will retain its name, culture and independence, stressed Microsoft. The intention is that LinkedIn will grow faster after the acquisition. The site mainly for business use now claims to have 433 million users, two million paying. Microsoft thus pay per member is currently converted nearly 54 euros.

It is obvious that Microsoft eventually it will integrate LinkedIn features with its other services. Microsoft calls specific Office 365 and Dynamics products as eligible. How it will look, is still unknown.

The LinkedIn shareholders must still give agreement to acquire and in addition, public authorities should still consider. The acquisition should be around the end of this year and would be the largest acquisition in Microsoft’s history. That was until now Skype, which Microsoft’s $ 8.5 billion paid for.
