Microsoft asks patent for multi-OS smartphone




Microsoft has applied for a patent on a technique that is meant to provide smartphones with multiple operating systems. The user must then select which operating system should actually be installed on the device.

The deliberate patent application has been filed with the US Patent Office USPTO, as discovered WM Power User. There is number US20150277929 assigned to and the application has already been submitted in March 2014. In the patent application there is described a technique which is intended for smart phones that have been pre-loaded with multiple operating systems. On initial startup, users see a selection screen where they can indicate which their preferred OS. Next, the system selects the corresponding installation, which is already present on the smartphone is in the form of a compressed file on a special partition.
