Microsoft continues to Games for Windows support




Microsoft does seem to will continue to support Games for Windows Live. The gaming service has long been suspected that these will soon close its doors, including after last year’s Marketplace was closed.

Games for Windows On Twitter Dudynsky let Andy, who works at Microsoft Studios as a community manager for Halo, know that support for Games for Windows Live will be put. No further details were disclosed. With the announcement, it seems that the rumors about the discontinuation of the gaming service is not correct.

The Games for Windows Live service Microsoft provides game developers several options, such as support for multiplayer, achievements and DRM. There was initially a Marketplace where users could buy games but it was closed last year by Microsoft, probably because of a lack of interest. With the online store for PC games Microsoft wanted to compete with services like Steam.

Closing Marketplace caused rumors that the company might Games for Windows Live would like to join in its entirety. As a result, several game developers already ceased to build support for the gaming service. Games like Bioshock 2, Dirt 3, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II and a few Batman games have been ported to Steamworks.
