Microsoft Research has developed a technique called ‘holoportatie’ calls. In a video demonstrating how the researchers using a room full of cameras and a HoloLens seat is possible for people to speak virtual teleport.

The holoportatie technique was devised by the i3D team at Microsoft Research, and works by film people in a special area from all angles and as real-time to create a 3D model. The researchers give few details about the recording technique and used cameras, but judging eight camera setups used in the pictures. There are four racks with senior cameras and four cameras at waist height.

By the person in the space with all of these cameras at the same time to capture all the movements are to be converted to a 3D model. That model real time geholoporteerd ‘to HoloLens carrier in another room. If that person is also in an area with cameras, his image can also be recorded and sent back.

The technique can also be used to record scenes that can be played back later. According to the researchers this looks like being late for a memory alive. Because the recordings consist of 3D models, it is also possible to make the captured people smaller or larger. Using augumented reality recorded scenes can for example be played on a table.
