Microsoft earns more money on Surface products




Microsoft earned more money on Surface products in the last quarter of last year. Turnover from the tablets and laptops that Microsoft makes rose by more than 30 percent to 1.9 billion dollars. This is still a small part of Microsoft.

Microsoft earns the most money in the More Personal Computing division, which includes Windows and Xbox in addition to Surface. Of these, Microsoft does not publish exact numbers, but the turnover from Windows fell by 5 percent, partly due to disappointing chip deliveries. As a result PC makers have been able to produce or postpone new models to a limited extent. Xbox generated 8 percent more sales, with a 31 percent growth in revenue from Xbox services. In addition, Microsoft notes that games from third parties did less well than expected, except for a title that was largely responsible for the growth.

The division with Office, LinkedIn and Dynamics grew by 13 percent. The smallest part of Microsoft is the Intelligent Cloud division with the cloud service Azure, which grew by 76 percent, Microsoft reports in the quarterly figures . This growth is not as high as in the same period in 2017, when Azure grew by 98 percent.

Microsoft achieved a total turnover of $ 32.5 billion last quarter, an increase of 12 percent over the same period a year earlier. The operational income was around ten billion dollars, an increase of 18 percent.
