Microsoft gives details on this recall Surface Pro cords
Owners of a Microsoft Surface Pro, Surface Pro 2, or Surface Pro 3 that was purchased before July 15, 2015, the manufacturer may apply for a replacement power cord. Microsoft calls the old wires back because these are potentially incendiary in damage.
Microsoft has set up special web pages for Dutch and Belgian customers, where they can apply for a replacement power cord. According to Microsoft Surface Pro owners get their new power within four to six days without charge sent home. Customers do not return their current cable. Owners of a Surface Pro 3 which was purchased after July 15, 2015, do not need to request a new power cord. Microsoft delivers the tablet since then with another cord, which is less susceptible to damage.
Also the manufacturer of the Surface Pro tablets more information about the potential problems with the cables. “In the course of time can damage occur when the power cord for example, sharply and repeatedly bent or tightly rolled up.
