Find a Question:
Microsoft IllumiRoom too expensive for mass
Earlier this year, Microsoft has introduced to the audience his new project IllumiRoom, who immediately made an impression on the people due to the possibility to expand the gaming scene on the TV directly into the room, thus increasing the depth of what is happening.
IllumiRoom used to work for Windows Kinect camera and a projector, which breaks down the boundaries between TV screen and furnishings in the room, creating an essentially virtual scenes in the real world. Much to my regret (no joke, IllumiRoom looks very interesting thing), Microsoft decided to freeze the project, since the moment the price for consumers would be too high. Fortunately, the project is not completely closed, but expect to run the system IllumiRoom on sale is not worth it.
Recall that the project Microsoft IllumiRoom represented by the development department of Microsoft Research, which shares its basic principles:
“Our system uses the environment and the geometry of the room (which is scanned by the camera Kinect ) to expand the game reality into this very room in real time, without any additional graphics processing. All you can see in the video below was filmed live, without imposing any additional effects as a result of post-production. ”
