Microsoft launched in July test with Cortana on Android

Microsoft begins in July with a beta of Cortana for Android devices. The app appears as a companion for Windows 10 PCs, but whether Microsoft intends that the app only works with Windows 10 is not clear.

“In July, the beta of the Cortana app for Android phones available to be tested as a companion for Windows 10 PCs,” writes Microsoft. It seems therefore that Android users, at least in the first instance, on a Windows 10 system must have in order to be able to make use of the personal assistant. When the iOS version of Cortana appears Microsoft does not say.

However, Microsoft gave more details about the arrival of Cortana to the Xbox One. That will happen in the fall, but only to Xbox One users in the US and the UK. The personal assistant then works with the Microsoft account, so that for instance the notebook with reminders, contacts and locations shared about the Xbox One, phone and PC.

Xbox One users can invite friends via voice control Cortana to play, gameplay record and retrieve information about games. If the reminder to take the dog out at 20:00 is created via an Android device, the Xbox One stop a film at that time to remind you that it is time for that walk, Microsoft gives as an example.

Microsoft announced the end to bring May at Cortana to Android and iOS.
