About Microsoft’s Cortana used to search the web, now gets only results seen in the Edge Browser Windows 10, obtained through the Bing search engine. Microsoft does not guarantee the necessary ‘search experience’ with other combinations.

Microsoft claims that some programs ‘work around the design of Windows 10’ by directing users Cortana to search engines that are not designed to function with the personal assistant. According to Microsoft, this results less predictable and reliable results.

“The only way we can confidently offer this personalized, end-to-end search experience is the integration of Cortana, Edge and Bing,” said Microsoft. Therefore, Microsoft takes the step to link Cortana with its own browser and search engine. The manufacturer emphasizes that users still can modify the default browser to a different program than Edge and that they can change the search engine Edge and Internet Explorer.
