Microsoft makes crossing of email and chat app for iPhones
Microsoft has created a cross between a chat app and an email application. The app Townsend was designed especially for fast mail exchanges and was released for iOS. Versions for Android and Windows Phone would follow later.
Townsend is not a “full” email app and therefore does not show all mail exchanges, explains Microsoft out. It shows only the mail exchanges that the user started in the app itself. This allows people to send each other a short mail and then see if the other is working on answers, as in a chat application.
The mails sent by users Townsend, also just come up in Outlook as all other e-mails. In Townsend are no subject lines or signatures. Send a so-called Garage project for Microsoft, projects that employees ‘there’ and which do not form part of larger plans of the company. Townsend was released for iOS users in the United States and Canada and should soon come to Android and Windows Phone. When that is exactly, Microsoft does not specify. Send the company developed under the code name Flow .
