Microsoft Office Online provides access to Dropbox files




Microsoft has to be free to use Office Online added the ability to open documents from a Dropbox folder. The reverse is also possible: a Dropbox user can open a document in Office Online from the Dropbox environment.

Word, PowerPoint and Excel files thanks to the integration with Dropbox Office Online editing within the browser, where all changes are saved directly to the cloud storage platform. Dropbox also offers in its cloud service a button to open Office files directly in Microsoft’s web applications.

Dropbox integration with Office Online comes as no surprise. Despite Microsoft’s OneDrive has its own cloud storage service, it works closely with Dropbox. For example, users of Office for the iPad open, edit and save as listed in Dropbox.
