Microsoft releases beta version of Cortana for Android in the US




Cortana, Microsoft’s answer to Siri and Google Now, is now available as a public beta for Android users in the United States. When the personal assistant of the American company going to go away to Europe, is not known.

Microsoft announced the end of May at Cortana bring to Android and iOS, and with the American public beta comes a step closer. In July, started the company closed perform tests for the Android version. Microsoft writes that it plans to roll out the app to other markets, but gives no further details about price.

Cortana is able to set reminders, to perform web searches, and data as a flight information to keep track of. Cortana has cross-device-functionality, so a task checked off on Android, Windows 10 is immediately checked.

The beta also has received the functionality to be accessed with the press of the home button. That was in closed beta yet possible. Cortana certain functionalities like open adjusting system settings or applications, initially only work on Windows 10. Also, the ability to activate Cortana by “hey, Cortana” to say, is not yet present.

Microsoft has not disclosed further details about Cortana for iOS. Cortana is – only for US users – to find in the Play Store. Possibly users in other countries the .apk download elsewhere, but at the moment it is not yet clear whether Cortana also that way will refuse service or not.
