Microsoft releases free version of business chattool Teams

Microsoft has released a free version of its tool Teams. With the free version, Microsoft wants to compete with, for example, Slack, which has had a free version with restrictions for much longer.

The free version of Teams has some limitations compared to the paid version, reports Microsoft . For example, Microsoft services such as Exchange for e-mail and OneDrive for storing files are not included. Scheduled meetings and meeting recordings are also not available.

In addition, there is 2GB of storage per user available and 10GB of shared storage. This is considerably less than the 1TB for each user with paid variants. The free Teams does offer unlimited number of messages to search and access for guests, something the free version of Slack is limited.

Teams came out last year and is a tool to chat and collaborate on files for companies and organizations. The cheapest paid version is bundled with an Office 365 Business Essential subscription and costs 4.20 euros per user per month.
