Microsoft Research develops ‘ceiling charger’ for wireless charging smartphones
Microsoft Research has developed an idea to smartphones wireless charging from the ceiling. The device searches with a Kinect camera to smartphones and then focuses light on the device to charge it through light and heat energy.
The researchers from the establishment of Microsoft Research in the Chinese capital Beijing call the system Auto Charge . The lamp currently uses visible light to charge the phone, but that would be in a future system should also be able to infrared.
The phone to Auto Charge know that it can be charged through a flashing pattern of an LED on the phone or via bluetooth. The camera that takes true and interprets it. If the phone is charged, Car Charge will again search for other phones.
To make the system work, a phone should be charged in one way or another support through solar energy. There have been even phones that supported, but no modern smartphone in Dutch stores has that.
