Microsoft Skype rest with translation technology

The functionality of Skype Translator comes to the Skype app for Windows. At the end of the summer, Skype will have the translation software technology, as Microsoft announced this week.

In a blog post writes Microsoft that using Skype Translator lately has increased considerably. The reason for this was available to make the program for everyone. “We saw a three hundred percent increase in the use of Skype Translator”, notes a satisfied tech giant.

Skype Translator can translate real-time video calls. To make this possible, set the system spoken words into text. Then use the Microsoft Translator to the text into another language. A text-to-speech bone, as an invisible third participant is added to the conversation, says the sentence out then.

The software now recognizes spoken English, German, Mandarin and Italian. When users enter text using voice chat, may fifty languages, including Dutch, translated. It is not known if or when Dutch as spoken language will be added to the program.

Microsoft left Skype Translator in May last year for the first time. The company demonstrated how two people spoke to each other in German and English. The software translated the phrases heard in real time to another language and then she spoke out.

Skype Translator is constantly improving thanks to machine learning. In short, it means that the software uses the input of its users to a language better ‘get’, among others to classify words better. Microsoft also says that the software improves gradually.
