Microsoft Surface 2 stops production
Microsoft will stop production of its Surface 2 tablets. The software will use the Surface Pro 3. With the cessation of the Surface 2 line seems the survival of Windows RT, the version of Windows that was developed for the ARM platform, to be doubtful.
Across The Verge confirms that Microsoft will stop immediately with the Surface 2, including the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 fall. The deletion of the Surface 2 comes as no surprise; Microsoft made known to the presentation of its quarterly results that the Surface Pro 3 sells a factor of three better than the Surface Pro 2. Also accessories for the Surface Pro 3 would do well.
With the phasing out of the Surface 2 series, which was launched in 2013, there will also be an end to Microsoft hardware running on Windows RT. This version was developed for ARM hardware, but regular Windows software did not run on Windows RT. However, few developers were willing to adapt their software for modest RT platform.
