Microsoft updated Outlook for iOS
Microsoft has updated the application to work with e-mail Outlook, designed for mobile devices with iOS. This was reported in the official blog of Microsoft. In updating the company added advanced account settings with the ability to change the system folders, improved interface and simplified method of adding Box-accounts in the file selection.
New Outlook is designed based on technology startups Acompli, which engulfed Microsoft in December of the year. “We took their team, which has now become the core of our development team Outlook», – said general manager in Microsoft Office Julie White.
Acompli application allows to combine contacts, calendar and e-mail into a single interface. As Acompli, new mobile Outlook supports Office 365, Exchange, Outlook.com, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail and most other e-mail services. In addition, the program allows you to send attachments of cloud services, including its own service Microsoft OneDrive, as well as Dropbox and others.
After the announcement of the release of Outlook Mobile former head of Javier Soltero Acompli, who now works for Microsoft, spoke about what to expect from the program. According to him, on average, users work with mail programs on mobile devices for 24 seconds at a time. Most of the time they process incoming messages, deciding what to do with each of them: delete, mark as important, or just mark as read.
Design a mobile version of Outlook is designed so that the user spent those 24 seconds as efficiently as possible. This is achieved by the use of special gestures for quick messaging operation.
Outlook works on iPhone and iPad. While Microsoft has kept a number of other applications under the brand Outlook – for example, a program Outlook.com for Android Apps OWA, which are only valid for customers of paid subscriptions to Office 365. However, over time, Microsoft plans to fully migrate users to the new Outlook-application.
