Microsoft will open a center to combat cyber crime

Microsoft announced today, Thursday, on the opening of its “cyber crime”, which would specialize in controlling the growth of cybercrime and control globally.

The company explained that the Center “cybercrime”, combining legal and technical expertise and all the tools and technology to combat that type of crime effectively on the Internet.

Microsoft said that its attempt to contribute to the reduction of all types of cybercrime, both those associated with malicious software or intellectual property theft or even techniques of child exploitation.

The Centre will try to address as well as networks of “botnet” started spreading drastically underutilized computers millions of users to do electronic crimes without their knowledge, said David Finn, Assistant General Counsel at the e-crime unit at the company “the first objective of this place is to make the Internet safer for everyone.”

Microsoft said the Centre also will provide its expertise and capacity to help solve big worldwide cyber crime, such as online fraud and identity theft, spyware and hacking.

The US company confirmed that electronic crimes affect the global economy as the cost of such crimes on the world economy of about 500 billion u.s. dollars, 50 percent of adult Internet users have fallen victim to crime in the past year.

Said Noboru Nakatani, Executive Director of Interpol (international police) of innovation, “the Centre will serve as an important hub in efforts to respond to cyber attacks and being proactive.”

Mention that Microsoft has developed its electronic crimes in the city, Redmond, Washington, United States.
