Windows 10 comes out on July 29 for PCs and tablets. Microsoft has announced. From that date, users with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 can free update to Microsoft’s new operating system.

Not only existing users receive the update on July 29, including new devices will be Windows 10 from that date, says Microsoft. The date comes as no surprise: AMD director Lisa Su called late July before the release date.

The version that opens on July 29, only for PCs and tablets. Other versions of Windows 10, such as the Xbox One console and smart phones, will be available at a later date. When that is exactly, Microsoft is not saying. The version for smartphones is in any case this year, while a test version for Xbox ‘after the summer would come.

Users of Windows 7 and 8.1 receive on Monday a notification that they can register for Windows 10 so they can download and install the update right, if available.
