Millions account information Minecraft community Lifeboat been looted




Account information of more than seven million members of the Lifeboat community for the Pocket Edition of Minecraft traded since January 2016. The hack took place months ago but only now disclosed.

It’s not about Minecraft accounts, but the account information that users enter when they join the Lifeboat community. Lifeboat running custom servers for the mobile version of Minecraft. Players can sign it by entering an email address, password and username.

According to security researcher Troy Hunt these data , more than seven million members captured. He was offered the relevant information from someone who is actively involved in the trading account. The hack would have occurred in January and lifeboat would have concealed three months, aware that the data was stolen, says Hunt on Motherboard.

The passwords are hashed it, but this is done with the weak MD5 algorithm which passwords are relatively easy to figure out. Although no other details have come out through Lifeboat, users running that use the same credentials on other websites or other services danger.
