Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Review – Moderate drop
Even though little space from publishers developers were in 2008, especially the studios owned by big boys like Activision or Electronic Arts. It was also noteworthy that the Swedish owner EA Digital Illusions CE of it was given the space to create a strange game like Mirror’s Edge. The studio is best known for the Battlefield games, a cash cow where EA is strongly dependent. So why do that studio than spend time on a risky project like Mirror’s Edge? Luckily that space there, because the game around the young Faith Connors might not have succeeded on all counts, he was refreshing.

Even better is the DICE EA got the room to make a sequel. We waited there for eight years, but now Mirror’s Edge Catalyst in stores. Enough reason for EA to name Catalyst reboot. More importantly, Catalyst is a prequel. You make it what preceded the events in the first game. Unfortunately, there also is similar mistake. The story of the first game was written by Rhianna Pratchett, which usually means plotlines, dialogue and character development are well catered for. Unfortunately Pratchett is not involved in Catalyst, and it shows, because on these three points is wrong.
Catalyst has a somewhat predictable story, with mostly very boring dialogues. The texts have laid the various characters in the mouth are all overly tough and streetwise, in a way that generates irritation rather than sympathy or admiration. In fact; just makes the dialogues between the characters that they actually all seem unsympathetic and remain so throughout the game. Catalyst is populated by unkind people and even Faith do not escape that fate. There are exceptions, but crazy enough to just say the wrong thing. The best, most credible and perhaps most sympathetic characters are Dogen, the leader of the underworld and plastic, a very talented hacker who is put in the game as unworldly, but is now more credible and sympathetic than the many ‘normal’ people.
