Mobile Vikings and JIM Mobile switch to Orange’s network

The virtual providers Mobile Vikings and JIM Mobile are switching from the mobile network from Base to that of Orange Belgium. These are Medialaan, owner of Mobile Vikings and JIM Mobile, and Orange agreed.

Mobile Vikings logo From the spring of 2019, the connection between the 365,000 Mobile Vikings and JIM Mobile customers must be via the Orange network instead of via Base. The switch is a result of Telenet’s acquisition of Base in 2015 and De Vijver Media at the beginning of this year. This makes Telenet a direct competitor of Medialaan.

Because Base sold its share in Mobile Vikings to Medialaan in 2016, a requirement to approve the acquisition by Telenet, the telecom company could look for an alternative network. Medialaan and Mobile Vikings claim that the quality of the Orange network is comparable to that of Base, referring to research by Test Aankoop and OpenSignal .
