Mobvoi presents TicWatch with a second screen for extending battery life

Chinese Mobvoi has presented the TicWatch Pro. The watch has two screens on top of each other and users can switch between the OLED display and the FSTN LCD.

The smartwatch can only show Wear OS on the OLED screen. When the user is busy with the TicWatch Pro, this happens on this primary screen. When the watch is in standby, it switches to the fstn-lcd . The LCD technology was already used in digital watches and in the past also on laptops. The LCD is transparent, leaving users who should not see if the screen is off.

When the battery is almost empty, users can switch to Essential Mode, writes The Verge . That shows the time on the fstn-lcd. Also functions like the heart rate monitor and pedometer still work. In that mode, the battery lasts for a month because the watch completely disables the Wear OS.

Mobvoi is not the first with this idea. Casio did it a few years ago with his Smart Outdoor Watch WSD-F10 . Other specifications of the smartwatch from Mobvoi have not yet come out. The TicWatch Pro is a more expensive version of the previously released TicWatch watches . He has to come out this summer for under $ 300.
