Mozilla boss makes himself unpopular, OkCupid warns users against Firefox
Brendan Eich was appointed last week as the new CEO at Mozilla. Sounds a boring and uneventful, but interesting is the attitude of the Lord. This donated in 2008 to ban same-sex marriage. Shortly after his appointment as CEO 3 members have retired from the board, but the reasons for this should not be at Brendan Eich. Employees of Mozilla vented their anger on Twitter air, calibration responded with a blog post that highlights natural that Mozilla all people would be treated equally. Someone who stands by his principles, that is exactly what every company wants.
So we have a presumably homophobic Mozilla boss, boss of a company that is so often one of equality of all dreams and we Mozilla employees and now also websites that maintain calibration as CEO for non-portable. The dating site OkCupid warns Firefox users even with a welcome message that invokes user to switch to another browser. The reason for this is Oak’s attitude to same-sex couples.
The story is sure to be eaten. If calibration is still beating a few waves, the whole thing could bring actual harm for Firefox. No one is outraged as fast as the “Internet community”, but the air here is also usually quite quickly out again. Only drawback is there anyway both Oak’s setting, as well as the public reaction to it. But sometimes just helping out loud. Would you switch browsers because the new boss have a different attitude than yours?
