Mud makes battle royale mode for Doom II from 1994

After the success of PUBG and Fortnite more and more games get a battle royale mode. Of course Battlefield and Call of Duty could not stay away, but what about Doom? The reboot does not have such a mode yet, but via a mod Doom II from 1994 does.

The mod is called DooM Royale (with Cheese) and the principle is as simple as other battle royale games: players are brought together in one area and have to shoot each other until one winner remains. In the mod for Doom there is no fighting for a chicken dinner but for the Royale with Cheese.

Bambamalicious, the name of the mud that brings battle generous to Doom II, has set up a test server so that enthusiasts can get started. There are always eight bots present, so there is something to shoot. The maker says that he can not promise that everything runs smoothly, it is still an early test of the gameplay.

In the coming weeks, the test server will remain available, while the mud will eliminate bugs and work on the map. The battle royale mode takes place in an existing level, but all doors can be opened without a key. The area is getting smaller as the game progresses.

To play DooM Royale, Zandronum 3.0 is required, which is a port of the Doom engine that offers more multiplayer possibilities. Players must also have the game file doom2.wad in their possession, which can be obtained via the original CDs or on Steam.
