NASA gets Emmy nomination for beating down Cassini

NASA has won many awards, for example with scientific publications, but an Emmy is not there yet. However, the space agency now also has a chance to win this prize, for the way in which the end of the Cassini mission has been mapped.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has nominated NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in the Outstanding original interactive program category . It is specifically about Cassini’s grand final, the space probe that was deliberately directed into Saturn’s atmosphere in September last year. This ended the mission after twenty years.

The American space agency has reported extensively and extensively on this event and its approach to it. Not only in the form of all sorts of videos and reports, but also by releasing the often stunning photographs that Cassini made during his mission and sent to earth. Cassini, for example, made a number of photographs of Saturn’s rings just before his end.

The presentation of the specific Emmy Award for which NASA has a chance, will take place on September 15 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. There, the end of the Cassini space probe should include Blade Runner 2049: Memory Lab, a VR game from Oculus. Spider-Man Homecoming VR Experience, a PlayStation VR app, is also one of the contenders.
