NASA starts with 3D printing in space
Space Agency NASA for the first time a 3D printer in the space used to create objects. The use of 3D printers in the area is important to space stations and craft making it less dependent on supplies from Earth.
The 3D printer was installed on November 17 in the ISS, and are held two calibration tests. Last Monday was from ground stations put into force the printer to print a spare part for the printer itself layer by layer. It is a cover plate for the print head. After inspection of the part, it seemed that the bond was stronger than expected and this is possible by the lower gravity. NASA is going to investigate this further. The organization has prepared the printer to print a second object in space.
The production NASA enables to understand which parameters are to be used in space for making objects. “As we we can learn more print what effects caused microgravity and what the result of the fine tuning of the printer. If we have the components on earth, we can compare the differences on earth printouts.”, says Niki Werkheiser , leader of the project at NASA.
Eventually be able to make 3D printers in the spare room for critical machines in space stations and capsules, but that is guaranteed to be able to do, they must also own spare print. According to NASA needs a printer to term itself can replicate complete.Viewing:-205
