NASA will use Kinect and Oculus Rift to control robots in space

New modern gaming technology eventually spread and scope, is not related to entertainment . So NASA engineers Laboratory for the Study of Jet Propulsion working robot control system using virtual reality glasses Oculus Rift game controller and Kinect 2.

The prototype of the new system was assembled in just a few days and combines Oculus Rift KInect and 2 to create a single hardware platform for remote control robot. The current version of the device can be controlled while only one limb robot, namely hand.

In the future we plan to expand the capabilities of the system for full remote control robot. The first prototypes will be tested on the International Space Station, which currently are Robonaut 2 robots.
