“Nearly half of world’s population is online in 2018.”

Almost half of the world’s population in 2018 at least once a month online. That treasure research firm eMarketer. Now, four in ten people online. The growth in the number of people coming for the first time on the Internet coming years will rise less rapidly than before.

The number of people once a month comes online, it is according to the estimates from eMarketer now about 2.9 billion. That will coming years according to the research annually grow by about 6 percent. This increase will be slower than in recent years.

The research does not indicate how many of those people are online via mobile connections, but presumably is that an increasing proportion: in many parts of the world where people are not yet online, are not fixed Internet connections. Mobile networks and through initiatives such as Google’s project Wages must increase that number. The estimates from eMarketer are an aggregation of other measurements and estimates, which it says to take into account both national and global trends.
