Video streaming service Netflix has around 2014 940.000 Dutch tied to itself, says a US newspaper. That is 5.6 percent of the Dutch. The service here is still not as popular as in Scandinavia and North America.

In Norway, 17.9 percent of residents an account which the service in that country in percentage seen popular than in the US homeland. There, 11.7 percent have an account. In Denmark, the service is more popular than in the United States. In those countries, the service is more active than in the Netherlands. In absolute numbers remain Netflix in the US is the most popular: that Netflix has 37.7 million paying subscribers, which is more than all subscribers outside the United States combined.

The New York Times has the figures learned from market research firm IHS. The figures are not counted trial subscriptions. Also account sharing is not included: it is the number of accounts, not the number of actual viewers. Netflix subscribers can share their subscription with others; depending on the type of subscription, it is possible to watch one, two or four streams simultaneously.

Netflix brings itself not publish figures for the number of subscribers per country, except the number of subscribers in the United States and abroad. “These are not our figures, we do not share that,” Netflix reports upon request. According to the latest official figures late last year, Netflix had 18.2 million streaming subscribers abroad, but half million trial subscriptions are added. In the US, Netflix next 37.7 million paying subscribers 1.4 million trial subscribers.

Previously estimated Digital TV Research that Netflix had in September Dutch 700,000 subscribers. The streaming service came in the autumn of 2013 available in the Netherlands. Since September, the service can also be used in Belgium, but IHS says not many Belgians actually use the service.
