Netherlands participates in research on solar storms impact on telecom equipment




The Dutch government has announced to participate in a study on the effects of solar storms on energy and telecom equipment. The research is conducted by the European Space Agency.

Solar storms can affect their magnetic radiation energy grids and satellites, writes the government. Therefore, it is important to investigate this phenomenon in order to limit its effects or avoid. There can be many social and economic damage caused by the failure of critical infrastructure, said Minister of Economy Ch. The research program called ‘Space Situational Awareness’ runs until 2021. The participation of the Netherlands is part of the Friday presented paper on space policy.
