Neyronavigator greatly facilitates the progress of operation on the brain
The new system of brain imaging during surgery helps neurosurgeons to pursue a more accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients, allowing you to perform previously intractable or even impossible manipulation. The technology is extremely useful where you need to manipulate small objects such as needles, implants or tube through which drugs are delivered to the brain. The system allows you to accurately set the position of the surgical instruments and visualize the images in real-time by nuclear magnetic resonance (MRI).
Typically, neurosurgeons examined the brains of patients by MRI in the preoperative period, which allows pre-arrange a course of operation. The problem is that during this period the patient may be offset portions of the brain. As a result, MRI is not accurate, and doctors may have to stop the operation started or even withdraw the patient from the operating room to see what processes occur inside the cranium patient, said Robert Gross, a neuroscientist at Emory University (Georgia, USA ).
Scientists have found a satisfactory solution to this problem: they have developed a new neurosurgical navigation system, in which may be involved strong magnets, and electronic signals used in magnetic resonance imaging. MRI Interventions has installed 25 such plants, twenty three of which are in two clinics in the U.S. and work in Europe.
