Nikon warns custom-DSLR’s




Nikon announces that several of its cameras are offered with custom body, making them resemble more expensive versions. Nikon discovered the fraud after several service centers adapted products were offered for repair.

Nikon D800E d800 That writes Nikon Europe at customer site. It seems according to Nikon at the custom- and imitation products are mainly introduced to the public through Internet auctions. The company cautions that there is no warranty on these products and that the Nikon repair centers not repair these cameras.

These include for D800 cameras that look like D800E cameras. The exterior of the D800’s is then replaced by an exterior of a D800E. To find out if a camera is really a D800E, the ‘Grid’ function must be activated in the full playback mode. The camera’s name is then in the upper right corner. If a different name than D800E, the camera is converted.

When D7100 cameras is the nameplate replaced by that of a D610. To check whether it is indeed a D610, the user can apply the same method as for the D800, although the difference in sensor so great that even though this should be obvious without going into menu.

The last camera where the nameplate sometimes interchanged, the D4 that occurs on the outside as the D4S.
