Nintendo brings 8-bit Amiibo-dolls on September 11 in Europe simultaneously with the game Super Mario Maker. Which the manufacturer says on Twitter. The 8-bit Amiibo are blocky versions of the already existing puppets to generate the similarity to how Mario looked like thirty years ago.

During the release on September 11, Mario dolls come available in blue and brown dress Nintendo refers to as’ classic color ‘, while versions with “modern colors’ to come out on October 23. That says Nintendo Europe on Twitter.

Amiibo are dolls with NFC chips, which thus can communicate with a Wii console. Thus a player can store the progress of a character or by linking the Amiibo get an item in a game.
